Fish, fish everywhere and also some to eat.

This week, I’ve been able to really zero-in on these fish. The small ones are in their newly-lit box, and two of the larger fish are very close to completion.

Which means two are still in the works. Tess has been letting me use her outdoor space for airbrushing. Oh, how I long for a proper studio with a fume hood. SOON!
MUSC in the works, too.
Had my first delicious sampling of the food at The Ordinary. The Trout Pâté was exquisite!

Really looking forward to February and all it will bring… Until next time, enjoy some photos of… Fish. AND BRUCE!

Tiny Fishes

20130118-121821.jpg

These tiny finger mullets will go towards the upper left in the shadow box I created for The Ordinary. I started with real frozen baitfish, made some rubber molds, and cast them in ShellShock Fast. Then I re-sculpted the wonky parts, sanded and ground the flashing, and painted them using both an airbrush and a paintbrush. Sealed with various pearlescent lacquers!

The big fish are still in the works… Done similarly to the little fish but are taking a lot longer due to their SIZE!

The little fellas will be installed on Monday morning… So definitely go get a drink Tuesday night at the Ordinary’s fabulous bar! And get some oysters while you’re at it… There’s an R in January!

Fishy

Word on the street is: Sisal & Tow has a new logo, the four fabulous fish for The Ordinary are almost prepped for paint jobs, part of “Apiary” will be appearing on the ceiling of Butcher & Bee in mid-February, and some recycled materials will turn into sculptures on the ceiling of MUSC’s Children’s Hospital.  Triggerfish
